How many miles can you run/walk in a day? What about a night? What about while you are pursuing enemies to kill them? Are you curious as to how far Abram and his 318 trained men chased the Elamites (Genesis 14:13-16)? Almost 50 miles as the crow flies, according to Google Earth. Just to put that into perspective, that’s almost two marathons. Can you imagine the Olympic marathon runners beginning a second marathon after they finish their first, but only with heavy leather and possibly metal armor and carrying spears and swords?

As I have been learning more and more about the various historical accounts in the Bible, I am fascinated to research them using maps and globes (I do the same thing for Lord of the Rings too…). Thanks to a very cool website I just stumbled across, called OpenBible.org, they have Google Earth layer files of every “identifiable” location mentioned in the Bible, organized by book and chapter. If you’re into that sort of thing like I am, head over there and take a look.
